The fundamental root problem

Most of the last century we enjoyed relatively inexpensive gasoline. We enjoyed our vehicles and we seldom cared about their efficiency. We seem to be more conscious today of petroleum limits and the expense those limits are having. The expense will escalate and not recede.

The latest Energy plan suggests conservation is the answer. This is a reaction not a solution. A root of our problem is the fact that regardless of the vehicle we enjoyed;

95 percent of the energy consumed, propelled the vehicle:

5 percent of the energy consumed propelled us:

The latest vehicles proposed are no different. So is there a better solution to our problem? America really needs to re-think these solutions and do something creative! More of the same will not do.

Envision a fuel-less vehicle, light weight, electric drive, single or two person, which can be programmed for destination. It draws power from an electric distribution grid and the grid also provides GPS and incorporates travel safety network.
